Your Immune System and Cancer

Your Immune System and Cancer

Every day of our lives, there is a battle between our immune system and cancer. More than we ever know, cancerous cells develops in our body; however, the immune system fights against these cells ensuring that we stay healthy. However, you may wonder, if the immune system is always fighting against these cancerous cells, why then are people still having cancer? Well, for cancer to develop, it may be that you are exposed to a lot of cancer-causing toxins or anything that abnormally accelerate the development of the cells to a level that may be too much for your immune system to control. Other reason may be that your immune system is unable to kill the cancerous cells as soon as they are developed because it has become ineffective and worn out.

To stand a better chance in the fight against cancer, it is important that you take strengthening of your immune system seriously. The simple truth about cancer is a signal that the immune system of the sufferer is ineffective. Over the years the treatment for cancer has witnessed significant advancement thanks to the merging of the alternative and conventional method. As a cancer patient that is undergoing treatment, it is quite imperative to know that you need to rebuild your immune system because cancer treatment is immune suppressing.

Effort should be made towards restoring the suppressed immune system, and this can be achieved through several means. It is important to understand the importance of the food we eat because who you are health wise is as a result of what you eat. Though many herbs, supplements, essential oils, and workouts help in building up the immune system, what you consume is capable of either further reduces the effectiveness of your immune system, increase it or keep it at the level it is present. The human body needs unprocessed, organic food; you shouldn’t be perturbed by the extra cost of getting them because your health should be of more importance to you.

When you search for possible treatments for cancer, you will find many natural supplements, the truth in it is that these natural supplements help the immune system, this is why they can treat cancer in the first place. However, these supplements are only effective if the immune system is almost strong enough to handle these cancerous cells. These supplements can hardly help treat cancer if the immune system is in a state of awry. Another reason why people use natural supplement is a simple fact that the human body needs natural food, and since the supplements are made using natural ingredients, they tend to build up the immune system.

Antioxidants are another set of important compounds present in real foods that help the immune system. The functioning of the human body produces waste that forms free radicals; these substances needs to be taken care off to avoid damages. These injuries are taken care off by the antioxidants that we consume; they combine with the free radicals to suppress the damages that they may cause to the human body.

Why you should stay away from gluten

Why you should stay away from gluten

Gluten happens to be one of the most heavily consumed proteins in the world. Gluten consist of two molecules, glutenin and gliadin, the protein is produced when both molecules come into contact and form a bond. Gluten are mainly found in wheat, rye, and barley, and over the years, this abundance has always been a blessing. However, due to little or no evidence but primarily testimonials people have turn against the consumption of gluten diets, instead switching to gluten-free diets which they tend to help them in boosting energy, better health, weight loss and treating of autism.

When dough are being knead by bakers, the bond develops an elastic membrane, this membrane gives the bread that chewy texture that it always possess and it’s the same membrane that allows pizza chefs to toss and twirl the dough into the air. After being confined to health-food stores for years, gluten-free foods now show up everywhere. Supermarket aisles are filled with products with a “Gluten free” label written over them, and not only that, several restaurants now offer gluten-free options of various foods.

The human genes have not changed over the years, though the dietary patterns have dramatically changed. Our body have not been structured to contain most of the modern diets that we have, with most of the meals containing too much sugary substances, carbohydrates with high calories capacity. This modern diets also include wheat which is one of the primary source of gluten, and most of the wheat that we consume have been changed to white flour which contains more of gluten and less proportion of vitamins or good nutrients that are good in the body. This form of wheat is a major cause of increase in blood sugar which leads to chronic diseases such as diabetes and several others.

Gluten is specifically not good for individuals with celiac disease. Consuming of gluten even in small quantity by individual with celiac disease can cause a response in the immune system which damages the lining of the small intestine. The problem does not end there, this reaction can go on to conflict with the intake of nutrients from food which causes several symptoms, this also give rise to health issue that may include infertility, damage of the nerves, seizures and osteoporosis. Gluten is so reactive in celiac disease sufferer that even a small amount of about 50 mg is enough to cause these damages.

If you want to avoid the consumption of gluten, you need to do than stop eating of cereals, pizza, traditional breads, beer and pasta. There are so many other products that contains gluten, foods that are made with natural flavoring, some medications, vitamins and mineral vitamins, soy sauce, toothpaste and frozen vegetables in sauce are some of the products that contains gluten. Following a gluten-free diet can mean depriving yourself about some nutrients and this can be a problem with anyone.

Why Dental Implants are my best option for my missing teeth

Why Dental Implants are my best option for my missing teeth

There are a lot of reasons for which humans lose a tooth, most of the reasons are beyond our control, while some are as a result of some bad habits in our general lifestyle. However the reason for losing a tooth, it doesn’t call for denying yourself a quality life and having a healthy mouth. Over the years there have been several methods of replacing missing teeth. If you are missing a tooth or set of teeth, it is time to smile again because you are guaranteed of having your tooth or teeth replaced with dental implants. Before now it has been conventional bridges, crowns, and dentures that have been the only option when it comes to replacing missing teeth, but with the advancement in dental technology, dental implants now offer the best teeth replacement option.

One of the primary reasons why dental implants are the best option is they function, feel and look just like your natural teeth unlike what other options offer. Though this is not trying to take away the effectiveness of dental bridge and denture, they are both viable options for replacing a tooth, but they have their contradictions and challenges.

There are many reasons which make dental implants the best available treatment to replace missing teeth. Dental implants offer a whole host of benefits that are not obtainable with other therapies. Their durability which can be for a lifetime happens to be the best part of it. Most dentists have recommended implants because they are the next to the natural teeth when it comes to replacing missing teeth. A missing tooth replaced via dental implants helps in restoring the facial aesthetics of people, and it brings a smile makeover to restore their lost charm, and self-esteem also. It’s clear that implants pip other dental prosthetics by a significant margin, but hopefully not on cost. Though they are not cheap compared to other options that do not mean they are not affordable.

When replacing a missing tooth through dental implants, there is no need to move other teeth during treatment, because your other healthy teeth are not affected by any means whatsoever. Taking away the cost of the process, dental implants is the best option for replacing missing teeth. The procedure does not require external support because they are inputted on the location and grafts of the missing tooth which is the source of their strength. You just need to visit your dentist a couple of times to get back your natural looking teeth.

Talking about the cost of replacing a tooth through dental implants, considering the initial cost of the available options, it may appear that dental implants are expensive, yes they are when you are not thinking of the conveniences and other benefits that it brings to you. However, because these other options do not last a lifetime, you may need to undergo the process again in the future, this makes dental implants the best choice for replacing missing teeth.

Would the new government facilitate the use of Marijuana to help cure of my dental problems?

Would the new government facilitate the use of Marijuana to help cure of my dental problems?

It is no more news that a lot of people are in one way or the other making use of Marijuana, regardless of legislation. These class of individuals have different reasons for using it, some use it for medical reasons, while some use it for personal reasons. But with the looming legislation and task force taking charge on the issue of marijuana usage, it will be good to understand what the use of marijuana entails. Marijuana has been utilised over the years in herbal treatments, due to the fact that marijuana has been found to contain cannabinoids which are components that are biologically active. The dried leaves and buds of various Cannabis sativa plant are known as marijuana. This plant grows in warm and tropical climates.

Marijuana is called several names around the world some of them include, marihuana, hemp, pot, ganja, weed, grass, hash, and many other names. The biologically active components present is marijuana that has been studied so far are cannabidiol and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, though there are studies ongoing on other elements. Though the plant has been said to possess some health benefits, government authorities and laws do not support the legal prescription and possession of marijuana and its components. However, some states allow the legal usage of marijuana to treat some medical conditions which include dental issues.

When talking about the sufficient powers of marijuana the product that always flashes across the mind is Dronabinol and nabilone. Nabilone is human-made cannabinoid drug while Dronabinol is a pharmaceutical form of THC, and both drugs are approved by the FDA to treat some conditions. It is important to know that the use of marijuana has changed over the years, and even though legislation is trying to open the door for the legalisation of its usage, we cannot deny the fact that people have been growing, selling, using, and distributing marijuana for years now. In the world of today, marijuana seems to be the new cigarette, some of its users don’t identify marijuana as a substance, but rather as their prescription, their happy pill, or even perhaps their cigarette of choice. This scenario has made discussing the legal use of marijuana a bit too complicated.

The greater part of the issue is the effectiveness of marijuana is treating dental problems. Previously the mention of marijuana was a taboo, but the world has gone past that now, it is now a case for discussion; however, it is important to tweak our perspectives to understand the totality of the use of marijuana, for the sake of its effectiveness in treating medical conditions. We cannot deny the fact that marijuana has its health powers, but the government legalising its usage no matter for what purpose is something that has divided lawmakers and ultimately the dental association. This partly because of the potential abuse of the substance when it is legalised and the damages it might cause when it has been legalised.

A lot to think about for our governors and congressman……. Any way don’t forget to….

Flossing 101- Why You Should Do it Daily

Flossing 101:

Why You Should Do it Daily………

Plaque. Accumulated food. Gum disease.

I’ll be getting sick just looking at these.

Yet you can’t walk across three hallways

And not see the obvious bacteria craze

Those people haven’t got any idea,

The only way to stay clear-

Is to “floss Like a BOSS.

Flossing is an integral part of mouth hygiene. Maybe if someone would rap it, we could get more people to pay attention to this task. People usually believe flossing is just for after the BBQ. (It’s not.)

Flossing should be done regularly, like you brush your teeth, which you should be doing regularly after meals (in case you are not).

So below you can find the ground rules for flossing:

Do you need to floss daily? Yes, if you are not fond of gum disease. You have to be gentle while flossing. There is such a thing as over-flossing or wrong flossing. When your gums start bleeding, if you have sensitive gums, or if you have braces, you must consult and convey such condition to Dr.Jean-Jacques Edderai. Only when you floss regularly you can, as we rapped above, prevent plaque from accumulating in between your teeth and getting them to stay healthy.

Do you need special equipment? Yes. You can use a waxed or unwaxed floss, dental tape, hand floss, electric floss or spongy floss. Those are the different types we recommend.

Is there a special way to do it? Yes. Flossing is a very technical piece of hygienic cleaning, and you have to do it right if you want it to be effective. As the purpose of flossing is to rid you teeth of harmful substances that could damage your gums, you want to make sure that you effectively remove foreign particles from your mouth from every nook and corner.

Also: use a fresh piece of floss every time you do it.

Here’s the Perfect and Easy Way to Take Great Care of Your Teeth

Here’s the Perfect and Easy Way

to Take Great Care of Your Teeth

Having a good dental hygiene routine is essential and really makes a great difference to how your teeth look, and how long they will last. Remember you only have two sets of teeth – take good care of them! Implants and artificial teeth are becoming increasingly common and accessible, but nothing beats having a full set of healthy, pearly whites!

While there are 101 ways to take care of your teeth, there’s one very easy and convenient way to take great care of your teeth. And the secret ingredient is probably sitting in your kitchen right now: Baking Soda and Salt!

Yes, you read that right.

Here’s how you go about it:

Mix up a small bottle of baking soda and salt, in equal proportions. Keep it handy in your bathroom so you don’t forget it! Keep a small container nearby in which you can mix the powder with a bit of water to make a paste for a one time use. Keep the rest of the powder dry. Skip the toothpaste and mouthwash and teeth gum once a month, and load your toothbrush with the paste of baking soda and salt. Brush your teeth like you would with toothpaste: left, right, over, under, circle and brush! Rinse your mouth and toothbrush after every brushing.

What’s so special in baking powder?

Baking powdersodium bicarbonate – is a weak alkali. It contains free radicals which, when combined with salt and water, remove stains from the teeth enamel. Baking powder can loosen and whiten dark stains caused by tea, coffee, tobacco, gums and sodas.

Precautions:

Don’t continue using if it causes an unpleasant burning or tingling. Remember that soda is not anti-bacterial and you will need to use toothpaste to protect against cavities. Baking soda also has an abrasive property, so don’t use it too much – once a month is suitable.

It’s never too late, before addressing any issue related to your smile, gums, teeth, and other oral or in general health issues, consult with Dr. Jean-Jacques Edderai. Popular Cosmetic Dental Procedures

Popular Cosmetic Dental Procedures

Cosmetic procedures and surgeries have nearly taken over the world. An increasing population of average and middle class people have joined the bandwagon and are getting procedures done that were once luxuries only the most privileged of people could access.

Cosmetic dental procedures refer to treatments done without any medically diagnosed disease of deferment. Cosmetic surgeries enhance the aesthetics of a person’s face, and boost mental well-being, self-worth, confidence and body positivity.

However, dental health care has transformed and now caters to a diverse set of clients from varied walks of life. The most popular cosmetic dental procedures are:

 1.   Teeth Whitening

A combination of hydrogen or carbamide peroxide in a bleaching gel is used to whiten teeth. Common stains are caused by caffeine, sodas, tobacco and alcohols. When a bleaching gel is applied, it releases oxygen molecules which then penetrate the dental enamel and dissolve the stains.

 2.   Dental Crowns

A cap or crown is applied on edged, broken or otherwise deformed teeth to give it the shape of a normal healthy tooth. These caps are made of porcelain or metal, or a combination and add strength to the tooth.

 3.   Tooth Contouring

This is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that is quick and inexpensive. It is most used to cover grooves or pits, chips, overlaps and enamel loss. This procedure requires an x-ray, a polishing visit and a finishing follow-up.

4.   Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a comparatively complex, though still inexpensive procedure. It has become very common as a cosmetic procedure due to its effective correction of visible flaws, chips, worn edges, gaps, stains and more. A composite resin material is used to sculpt over the tooth and is then dried and finished up with a high-intensity chemical or light. The composite resin material is commonly available in several shades and the procedure is almost painless.

Protect Your Children’s Teeth

Protect Your Children’s Teeth

protect your children Teeth
protect your children Teeth

Dental decay can be avoided by taking good care of children’s teeth from the very start. Many infections and diseases are passed through the child’s body because of bacteria in the mouth and infected teeth. Dental care for children starts before their first tooth grows out, and ensures that their milk teeth are healthy and straight, and their secondary teeth grow out properly after the milk teeth fall out.

Here’s what you can do to protect your children’s teeth:

Step 1: Get a Medical Checkup

Before a child turns 1, it must have had a dental checkup to ensure that everything is in order. In some rare cases, children’s jaws are not developed enough to let the tooth grow out, which results in a very painful teething time for the child. All kinds of chewing toys that are given to toddlers to soothe itching gums must be medically approved.

Step 2: Start a Good Habit

Start teaching oral hygiene to children so that they can religiously follow it throughout. With a baby brush, gently clean any teeth the child has, rub a soft clean cloth on the gums and teach them to rinse their mouth after eating or drinking sugary products.

Step 3: Pack away that Baby Bottle

Sucking from baby bottles, on pacifiers and drinking from Sippy cups deforms the teeth. Try to wean the child to cups as soon as it is able to grasp and balance the cup. If they are drinking sweetened milk, formula milk or juices from the bottles, try to brush their teeth immediately afterwards, as the sugary coating over their teeth leads to early tooth decay and cavities. Generally, the entire diet affects dental health. Try to incorporate healthy foods in their diet, and hard snacks such as carrots and bread sticks.
