Why you should stay away from gluten
Gluten happens to be one of the most heavily consumed proteins in the world. Gluten consist of two molecules, glutenin and gliadin, the protein is produced when both molecules come into contact and form a bond. Gluten are mainly found in wheat, rye, and barley, and over the years, this abundance has always been a blessing. However, due to little or no evidence but primarily testimonials people have turn against the consumption of gluten diets, instead switching to gluten-free diets which they tend to help them in boosting energy, better health, weight loss and treating of autism.
When dough are being knead by bakers, the bond develops an elastic membrane, this membrane gives the bread that chewy texture that it always possess and it’s the same membrane that allows pizza chefs to toss and twirl the dough into the air. After being confined to health-food stores for years, gluten-free foods now show up everywhere. Supermarket aisles are filled with products with a “Gluten free” label written over them, and not only that, several restaurants now offer gluten-free options of various foods.
The human genes have not changed over the years, though the dietary patterns have dramatically changed. Our body have not been structured to contain most of the modern diets that we have, with most of the meals containing too much sugary substances, carbohydrates with high calories capacity. This modern diets also include wheat which is one of the primary source of gluten, and most of the wheat that we consume have been changed to white flour which contains more of gluten and less proportion of vitamins or good nutrients that are good in the body. This form of wheat is a major cause of increase in blood sugar which leads to chronic diseases such as diabetes and several others.
Gluten is specifically not good for individuals with celiac disease. Consuming of gluten even in small quantity by individual with celiac disease can cause a response in the immune system which damages the lining of the small intestine. The problem does not end there, this reaction can go on to conflict with the intake of nutrients from food which causes several symptoms, this also give rise to health issue that may include infertility, damage of the nerves, seizures and osteoporosis. Gluten is so reactive in celiac disease sufferer that even a small amount of about 50 mg is enough to cause these damages.
If you want to avoid the consumption of gluten, you need to do than stop eating of cereals, pizza, traditional breads, beer and pasta. There are so many other products that contains gluten, foods that are made with natural flavoring, some medications, vitamins and mineral vitamins, soy sauce, toothpaste and frozen vegetables in sauce are some of the products that contains gluten. Following a gluten-free diet can mean depriving yourself about some nutrients and this can be a problem with anyone.
