Lack of Vitamins is the Result of Careless Nutrition

The human body needs several types of vitamins and minerals that are necessary for development as well as for the prevention of diseases. These required vitamins and minerals that are known as micronutrients are not produced in the body. To have the right amount that the body needs, we have to consume them from our diet. However, these micronutrients are not always in the right proportion; there are deficient in most human body system, which leads to malnutrition. Malnutrition occurs when the body does not get enough nutrients that it needs to function properly.

The body needs different types of vitamins such as Vitamins A, B-1 (Thiamine), B-3 (Niacin), B-9 (Folate), and D. all these vitamins can be deficient in supply is the human body which is not that good for our health. Each vitamin performs essential duties in the human body and as such, proper care should be given to ensure they are not deficient in supply. Vitamin A, consist of nutrients that are needed for the efficient functioning of the male and female reproductive systems as well as for the healthy eye. Vitamin A also strengthens the immune system. Consuming food that is rich in Vitamin A such as green vegetables, eggs, reddish-yellow fruits, milk and orange vegetables is very important for the overall health of the body. Breast milk is the best source of vitamin A for babies that are still breastfeeding.

Thiamine consists an important part of the human nervous system, and it also assists the body to carry out metabolism by turning carbohydrate into energy. A system that is B-1 deficient experiences health issues such as muscle damage, fatigue, weight loss and symptoms of cognitive malfunction (short term memory loss and confusion) and can even affect the heart. Consuming food with good source of thiamine such as cereals, pork, and grain product can provide the body the needed amount of thiamine to function. Alcohol consumption decreases the ability of the body to absorb thiamine, and deficiency of thiamine is seen in people that abuse alcohol. Reduction in the quantity of alcohol intake will be required.

Niacin (Vitamin B-3) helps in converting food into energy, and they are found in most proteins. Deficiency of niacin leads to pellagra, and the symptoms include skin problems, diarrhoea, and dementia. Incorporating foods with proteins such as meat can give the body the right amount of niacin. Vitamin B-9 called Folate assist the body in the production of DNA and also helps in the creation of red blood cells. It also helps in development of the brain and the proper functioning of the nervous system. Deficiency in folate can lead to child congenital disabilities and anaemia. Vitamin B-9 can be gotten from foods such as citrus fruits, meats (poultry and pork), beans and lentils, among several others.

Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones. Deficiency in Vitamin D can lead to poor bone growth. Vitamin D is found in the following foods egg yolks, liver, fatty fish, fish liver oils, and mushrooms.
